What we collect
- Quote requests: your name, email, phone number (optional), postcode (optional), town and a description of the job.
- Reviews: your name, email, the business you're reviewing, your rating and review, and anything you send us to confirm the job.
- Messages: your name, email and what you tell us.
- Business listings: business names, addresses, phone numbers, websites and trading details, taken from public sources such as official registers and the business's own website, or provided by the business.
- Technical data: your IP address, used briefly to stop spam and abuse, and the basic information your browser sends when you visit.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To pass your quote request to suitable local businesses: with your consent, which you give when you tick the box on the form.
- To check and publish reviews: our legitimate interest in running an honest review service. We publish your first name, town, rating and review, never your email.
- To reply to your messages: legitimate interest.
- To list businesses and tell them about enquiries: legitimate interest in helping people find local businesses. Any business can ask us to correct or remove its listing.
- To prevent spam, fraud and fake reviews: legitimate interest.
Who we share it with
We share quote requests only with the businesses you're matched with. We use trusted providers to host the site and send email, and they process data only on our instructions. If you accept analytics cookies, Google (as our processor for Google Analytics) receives details of how you use the site, such as pages viewed and your approximate location; this may be processed in the US under the UK-US data bridge. We never sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
Quote requests: 24 months. Reviews: for as long as the review is published, plus 12 months. Messages: 24 months. Spam-prevention data: up to one hour.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Contact us and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
